The Journey ...

You think that the goal is to be over there, and I can’t help but think the goal is the journey over there. The goal is the fun you have along the way on your way to get over there.

This picture is from a wonderful day in September that was “Just the Journey.” And what fun we had on the Journey.

Are you enjoying the Journey and having fun along the way?

Change ...

It usually takes about 30 days to change a habit. Not because you need 30 days. You could do it in 68 seconds.  The time you need is to consciously make the decision to change.

This month I am starting a daily meditation working on the study of the symbols and how I relate to them, interact with them, feel with them and how they encompass me.  It will be a period of 30 days.  Changes that will come up and changes that will happen are what lay ahead.

Is change in your path?

Rest ...

Rest seems like a nice contrast to being overwhelmed, but enthusiasm

is always chosen over rest. The only thing that ever makes you tired or

bogs you down is resistance.

Reach for the thought that feels better ...

Don’t do anything that you don’t really want to do. Keep yourself in a place of feeling good.

Reach for the thought that feels better — and watch what happens.

This Friday Ontario is loosening the Covid restrictions so we are going to have a long awaited visit with these little ones. For me this is such a happy thought to reach for …

What are you thoughts reaching for?

  • A visit with family

  • A tea with a friend

  • A walk in a park

  • A swim in the lake

  • A Reiki treatment

Let your cork rise…

“The basis of your life is absolute freedom, the goal is joy, and the result of that perfect combination is motion forward, or growth.  Your goal is to find objects of attention that let your cork rise.”

This past month feels like I am stuck on a treadmill just going around and around and getting no where.  To say the least life has been a challenge.

In reading the above quote over and over and I come to the bright idea that all corks rise and float which is of courses no surprise to you.   So, using that analogy my cork wasn’t sinking it is just moving slowly but will eventually come to the surface.  In good time it will rise.

For now, I will use my mantra of the Reiki Ideals and feel my cork rise:

Just for today do not worry

Just for today do not anger

Honour your parents, teachers and elders

Make your living honestly

Show gratitude to every living thing.

Give it a try!

Connection, Trust, Hope ...

During the later part of February I became very frustrated with where I was physically, mentally and energetically. I felt like I was struggling on all fronts. Meditation on my 2021 words, (Connection, trust and hope) helped me to find the path I needed. Practicing Reiki, connecting with family and friends has helped me mentally. Physically working on my exercise plan and gentle yoga started to give me confidence that I am where I should be and healing at the rate that is needed. Connecting, trusting and being hopeful for 2021.

The basis of life is absolute freedom, the goal is joy, and the result of that perfect combination is motion forward and growth.

How are you feeling today?

Priming Your Pump

In a workshop that I attended, the speaker was asked how he dealt with writer’s block.

He used an analogy of being on a farm and using a hand crank pump to get water.  When you first start to crank the pump usually there is no water coming out.  You have to crank the pump a number of times and perhaps pour water in to the crank in order for the water to flow freely.  This is called “priming the pump.”

How have I been Priming my Pump:

During the past month I have been stuck on a quilt that I am making. I wasn’t feeling any joy with it. The main block wasn’t coming together. So I changed my approach and I spent the week just sewing for 30 minutes each day and at the end of week the block was finished and looks amazing.  The next block has taken me minutes to do.  It finally made sense and I started to enjoy the creative journey I am on.

At the beginning of January I started joining on-line yoga classes and also continued with physio.  Daily I have been getting out for walks with each day a little further.   What a joy to start moving again with ease.

Practicing Reiki daily, reading and connecting online with other like-minded people has helped to make my daily practice so much more than just my daily practice.

Goodbye 2020 and Hello 2021 ...

Goodbye 2020 …

What a roller coaster 2020 was! There were joys and disappointments interspersed through the year.

My greatest joy was receiving my hip replacement at the end of October. Since that time I have working with Kirsten from BeWell Physio and am well on my way back to a healthy body.

A great quote to healing …

“Find something to feel good about and get out of the way, and allow the cells to receive what they’ve been asking for. That is the key to healing.”

Hello 2021 …

A number of years ago my Reiki Master, Karen Armstrong suggested that at the beginning of a new year I pick three words that resonate with me. My words for 2021 are:

Connection, Trust, Hope

January I am working with Connecting.

Come to the Edge ...

This weekend I spent attending the OGM (Office of the Grand Master) Virtual Retreat 2020.

What a wonderful experience.

The following was a poem that Joyce Winough opened her portion of the retreat with. It resonated with me and I thought it might resonate also with you.

Come to the Edge…

By Guillaume Apollinaire

Come to the edge, he said

“We can’t, we’re afraid!” They responded.

“Come to the edge” he said

“We can’t, We will fall!” They responded.

“Come to the edge” he said.

And so they came.

And he pushed them.

And they Flew.

It was very much a time for me to Come to the Edge and trust where Reiki is taking me.

Using Your Imagination …

Little ones still remember how to use the power of their imagination. They are still engaged in the utilization of their imagination — that is one of the reasons that keeps them so exhilarated.

In our changing times I have kept my imagination busy with practicing Reiki, Quilting, Gardening and taking some exciting Workshops.

Are you following your thread ...

The Way It Is

By William Stafford

There’s a thread you follow.

It goes among things that change.  But it doesn’t change.

People wonder about what you are pursuing.

You have to explain about the thread.

But it is hard for others to see.

While you hold it you can’t get lost.

Tragedies happen; people get hurt or die; and you suffer and get old.

Nothing you do can stop time’s unfolding.

You don’t ever let go of the thread.

Choice of Thought

Your choices of action may be limited—but your choices of thought are not.

This morning has been very challenging for me. SO I did some self Reiki and am now in a much better frame of thought.

Over the past couple of weeks my days have been spent working in my garden - which is always my happy place. I think my favourite thing is to clean up a perennial garden and see the shoots coming up from the ground. New life and new growth.

What are you doing to improve your choice of thought
